About Us
Howdy Y’all! We’re Tonia & Wayne Pickerill, proud owners of The Pink Elephant Antique Mall on Historic Route 66 in Livingston IL. This business has been a part of Livingston, IL since 2005. Our store is housed in the old Livingston IL high school, built in 1929. Today, it is a 30,000 square foot antique shopping mall, surrounded by historic fiberglass giants. The Pink Elephant is a favorite stop for those traveling Old Route 66. The mall has welcomed guests from all over the world, a map in the diner allows guests to place a pin for their place of origin. At Pink Elephant Antique Mall, we are passionate about supporting local vendors and offering a wide variety of antiques and items that appeal to all kinds of shoppers. The mall has everything from antique furniture, jewelry, collectibles, glassware, memorabilia, to candles, home goods and home decor. The mall also has two retro shops The Mother Road Fudge Factory and Candy Shop and The Twistee Treats Diner. The Mother Road Fudge Factory and Candy Shop is a 1950’s themed candy store that sells homemade fudge that is made on sight in a variety of flavors, caramelized roasted nuts made on sight, vintage candies, bulk candy, bulk salt water taffy, chocolates and Route 66 souvenirs. The Twistee Treats Diner is a kitschy 1950’s themed diner. The diner is in an original Twistee Treats ice cream cone shaped building with the dining area decked out in a hot pink tile floor. The Blues Brothers overlook the dining area and the jukebox. The diner serves a full menu for lunch and dinner including their burgers that are made with fresh local beef that is never frozen. The ice cream is amazing including soft serve, hand scooped and a large selection of specialties. Our Story
Hello there! We’re Tonia & Roy Pickerill, proud owners of Pink Elephant Antique Mall. This business has been a part of Livingston, IL for many years and we’re thrilled to have be at the helm since 2022.
Tonia’s journey with Pink Elephant Antique Mall began 16 years ago when she started as an employee. She was instantly drawn to the unique and charming atmosphere of the store, filled with beautiful antique furniture, decor, and other treasures. As the years went by, she knew that she wanted to be more involved in the business and eventually decided to purchase it with husband, Roy.
Our store is housed in a historic building that was once a high school. Today, it is a 30,000 square foot antique shopping mall, painted in a vibrant hot pink color that makes it a true town attraction. We love that our building is a source of pride for the community and we always welcome visitors to take photos and admire the historic building.
At Pink Elephant Antique Mall, we are passionate about supporting local vendors and offering a wide variety of items that appeal to all kinds of shoppers. We have everything from antique furniture and jewelry to candles, home goods, and even homemade candy and fudge made from vintage recipes. Our store is located along old Route 66, which means we also get to showcase some fascinating history within our walls.
But that's not all - we also own and operate The Twistee Treat Diner, a 1950s-style diner that is attached to the antique mall. Our customers can enjoy a delicious meal and then browse through the store for unique finds. And for those who are craving something sweet, we also own and operate Mother Road Fudge-n-Candy, a fudge and candy shop. Our goal is to provide our guests with a memorable experience that they won't soon forget.
Running Pink Elephant Antique Mall has been an incredible journey so far, and I am grateful to be a part of such a unique and special business. If you're in the area, I invite you to come and see us for yourself. You can find us at 908 Veterans Memorial Dr in Livingston, IL, or give us a call at (618) 637-2366. LIVINGSTON, IL — A new collection of custom Route 66-inspired lollipop signs is now lighting
the way across the Pink Elephant Antique Mall campus, adding another colorful chapter to one
of Illinois' most recognizable roadside destinations.
Inspired by the classic roadside signs that once welcomed travelers along America's Mother
Road, the new illuminated signs help guide visitors while creating a nostalgic atmosphere that
captures the spirit of Historic Route 66 after sunset.
Each sign serves as both a landmark and a piece of roadside art, transforming the front of the
campus into a walkable destination where guests can easily explore every attraction.
The new lollipop signs now identify:
● 🐘 Pink Elephant Antique Mall
● 🍦 Twistee Treat Diner
● 🍬 Mother Road Fudge & Candy Shop
● 👻 Area 66 Haunted School
● Heroes Memorial
Together, the signs connect the campus into what owners Roy and Tonia Pickerill envision as a
vibrant Route 66 Main Street, where visitors can park once and spend hours shopping, dining,
relaxing, and discovering unique attractions.
A Special Tribute at the Heroes Memorial
While each new sign represents an exciting addition to the campus, the Heroes Memorial
lollipop sign carries special meaning.
Unlike the double-bell signs installed throughout the property, the Heroes Memorial features a
single illuminated bell, intentionally standing taller than the others as a symbol of respect and
remembrance.
The memorial is dedicated to the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving others,
including:
● Military Veterans and Active Duty Service Members
● Law Enforcement Officers
● Firefighters
● Emergency Medical Services
● Dispatchers
● Correctional Officers● Healthcare Professionals
● Public Works Employees
● Utility Workers
● Tow Truck Operators
● Farmers
● And the countless everyday heroes whose work often goes unseen but keeps our
communities strong.
Flanked by American flags and service flags, the Heroes Memorial serves as a quiet place for
visitors to pause, reflect, and honor those who answer the call of service every day.
More Than Signs
The installation of the new lollipop signs is part of an ongoing campus-wide improvement project
that continues to transform the Pink Elephant into one of the Midwest's premier Route 66
destinations.
Upcoming improvements include expanded concrete patios, additional outdoor seating, new
landscaping, enhanced lighting, more family photo opportunities, and new attractions designed
to make every visit different from the last.
"Our goal is to create an experience that captures the fun, nostalgia, and community spirit of
Route 66," said owner Roy Pickerill. "The lollipop signs aren't just wayfinding markers—they've
become icons that tie the entire campus together, day and night."
As the Pink Elephant continues to grow, visitors can expect even more additions in the months
ahead—because on Route 66, the journey is never truly finished.
🍬 Step back into the 1950s — and treat your sweet tooth!
